Bruce Mackenzie
Bruce MacKenzie has worked in the newspaper business for 30 years. After finishing a master’s degree in political science at the University of Victoria, he started work as a reporter at the Medicine Hat News, in Medicine Hat, Alta.
In 1984, he joined the Edmonton Journal, where he spent 17 years in a variety of roles, including front-page editor, night city editor, assignment editor, electronic publishing editor and night news editor. As electronic publishing editor, he created JournalExtra, one of the first newspaper websites in Canada.
He moved to the Victoria Times Colonist in 2001 as sports editor and later features editor. He is currently the paper’s city editor.
