Vern Slaney

Vern, a resident of Parksville on Vancouver Island, has been a businessperson, consultant and director for both “for-profit” and ”not-for-profit “ organizations. He graduated in Business Administration from what is now Ryerson University in Toronto.

A long time resident of British Columbia, he spent over 30 years in the metal distribution business. Wilkinson Company was originally family owned and, subsequently, purchased by a public company from the UK. This change resulted in exposure to both British and German management styles and requirements. He served 8 years as President.

He is currently a consultant to small, family owned businesses and sits as a Director of BCAA where he serves on Audit and Governance Committees.

Slaney’s appointment to the B. C. Press Council took effect in July 2006.
