Pat TracyPat Tracy has been an editor and an advocate for community newspapers for more than 25 years. She is currently editor of both the Burnaby NOW and The Record, New Westminster’s community newspaper. She started her newspaper career at the Hope Standard in 1974 after graduating from the Langara College journalism program. While working in the newspaper field, Tracy has also been active in media literacy and was a founding member of MediaWatch in the early-‘80s. MediaWatch is a not-for profit organization that works to eliminate sexism in the media through consumer advocacy and education. In 1997 Tracy took a leave from her job and served as the vice-president of the Media Union of B.C., the Communication Energy and Paperworkers Union, Local 2000. While in that position she served as a member of the B.C. Federation of Labour’s Women’s Committee and sat as a member of the federation’s Executive Council. She is an avid nature
